Privacy Policy

The WAGE Project is strongly committed to protecting your privacy. The WAGE Project is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We hope to gather personal stories from women who have been discriminated against in the workplace to highlight the pervasiveness of sex discrimination. It is important for women to understand that they are not alone in their struggle for equality. Part of the way we hope to gather this information is by asking visitors to submit a personal story online that will be posted on the website for other visitors to view. This is completely voluntary.

We understand that you will be transmitting sensitive information on the website, and all such information will remain anonymous unless you choose to personally identify yourself. Before you submit a personal experience online, you will be asked to identify yourself and give your email address and other personal information. However, this information will not be shared with others or posted on the website without your consent.

By submitting a personal story to us, you give the WAGE Project permission to edit it, post it on the website, and use it in appropriate settings designed to illustrate the importance of ridding the workplace of discrimination. If you want to protect your privacy, please do not include any identifying information in your personal story. The WAGE Project reserves the right to reproduce and distribute part or all of a message without any compensation to the User so long as any identifying information is deleted. The WAGE Project may specifically ask you for information about you when you sign up to join the WAGE list. We will need certain information—such as name and email address—in order to provide that service. You can then choose to opt-out or opt-in to receive more information. You may opt-out of receiving email newsletters from the WAGE Project by following the specific "unsubscribe" instructions provided on the website.

If the WAGE Project changes its Privacy Policy, the changes will be posted here so that you will always know what information we gather, how the information will be used, and whether the information will be disclosed to anyone. This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that the WAGE Project is not responsible for the privacy practices of such sites.

Posting of Information

The WAGE Project website allows you and other users to post information about your experiences with sex discrimination in the workplace and to provide feedback to the WAGE Project. You agree not to post or transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, racially, sexually, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable material of any kind, including, but not limited to, any material which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, violate the rights of others, or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law. The WAGE Project does not represent or guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of communications posted by users or endorse any opinions expressed by users. You acknowledge that any reliance on material posted by other users will be at your own risk.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, AND INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE WAGE PROJECT AND ITS DIVISIONS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES AND AGENTS AGAINST ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM ANY MATERIAL THAT YOU POST OR TRANSMIT.

Although the WAGE Project may from time to time monitor or review generated pages and postings on the site, the WAGE Project is under no obligation to do so. You acknowledge that the WAGE Project does not control the information available on user-generated pages and that any opinions, advice, statements, services, offers or other information or content presented or disseminated on user-generated pages are those of their respective authors who are solely liable for their content.

The WAGE Project reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to edit, refuse to post or remove any material submitted to or posted on the bulletin boards or other user-generated pages. You grant the WAGE Project the right to edit, copy, translate, publish, create derivative works from and distribute any information or content you post or transmit for any purpose. By posting information on the website, you agree to permit all users to the website to access, display, view, store and reproduce such content for personal use. The WAGE Project reserves the right to expel users and prevent their further access to the website for violating the Terms and Conditions of Use or the law and the right to remove communications which are abusive, illegal, or disruptive.

Because user authentication on the Internet is difficult, the WAGE Project cannot and does not confirm that each user is who they claim to be. Because we do not and cannot be involved in user-to-user dealings or control the behavior of participants on the WAGE Project website, in the event that you have a dispute with one or more users, YOU RELEASE THE WAGE PROJECT (AND OUR AGENTS AND EMPLOYEES) FROM CLAIMS, DEMANDS AND DAMAGES (ACTUAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL, DIRECT AND INDIRECT) OF EVERY KIND AND NATURE, KNOWN AND UNKNOWN, SUSPECTED AND UNSUSPECTED, DISCLOSED AND UNDISCLOSED, ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH SUCH DISPUTES.

You should be aware that if you voluntarily disclose personal information (e.g. user name, email address) on a bulletin board/user-generated page, that information can be collected and used by others and may result in unsolicited messages from other parties.
